Dewalt DCD771C2 Compact Drill Driver Kit Review

The DCD771C2 has been optimized for small to medium fastening and drilling applications. The ergonomics are outstanding and have the same comfortable handle and feel as with all the 20V compact tools out there. Now let’s have a look at what this drill has to offer.

Overview

The DCD771C2 is a battery-operated tool that delivers 300 UWO of power. It’s DeWalt’s own way of measuring performance, and while I don’t have the tool to measure its exact torque, I can say that is its powerful enough to do all your drilling and fastening tasks around the house.

Compared to torque, this power rating indicated that the performance level on this is better than their 18V lineup of tools. This cordless combo kit has two different speed settings as well as a forward/reverse switch, which you can also use as a lock-off function.

Gripping Power

The single sleeve chuck is effective and efficient that allows the machine to take in half-inch drill bits. For you around the house project, this is a bit of overkill.

In addition, it has carbide inserts that offer a strong bit holding power. Furthermore, there is a collar to adjust the torque as this tool has 16 different torque settings.

Keyless Chuck

It’s a self-explanatory topic. Along with the chuck, the rotating sleeve makes for an added convenience. The highest drilling capacity of this cordless drill/driver is 30mm, and in metal and wood, it is 13mm.

There are also other advantages of this tool that you can’t overlook. For instance, this one features an automatic spindle lock. This allows you to open and close the chuck with one hand easily.

Dimensions

Although DeWalt marketed this tool as a compact drill, it’s actually slightly longer than its atomic series of tools. However, compared to today’s standard, this one is considered fairly light and compact.

The dimension is 13.9 x 9.9 x 4.2 inches; this cordless tool only weighs 3.6 pounds, including the battery. Despite having a small form factor, it’s packing a lot of power.

Speed

As I’ve said before, this tool has two-speed settings that can deliver different speed ranges. This first set is for 0 to 450 RPM, and the second setting reaches up to 1500 RPM.

That also indicates the top RPM of this tool, which is 1500. This can be achieved under zero load. The first setting, aka the low-speed setting, is helpful for people who cannot remove screws properly or invariably strip screws.

Apart from these speed settings, the tool offers 15 different settings that make it suitable for a wide range of fastening and drilling jobs. In short, this machine has an excellent power output rating.

Ergonomic

The EVA foam grip handle is comfortable to hold, and because of the lightweight design of this tool, it is able to keep pain and tension at bay. If you continuously use this tool, you won’t feel fatigued.

The comfortable and ergonomic handle provides strain-free handling of the drill for improved maneuverability and control. You will certainly feel confident as you handle the machine.

Battery

It’s a 20V MAX lithium-ion battery that is compatible with all DeWalt’s 20V lineup of tools. This tool is an improvement from the previous 18V drill machines, which means you will get more mileage and power.

The best feature of the 20V lithium-ion power pack is their smaller footprint that makes them lighter and smaller while being more powerful than traditional 18V batteries.

For a complete charge, the battery only takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Since they charge quickly, you will experience less downtime. These battery packs are also longer lasting. When they get completely charged, the charging automatically shuts off.

LED Light

Above your trigger, you will see the LED light is positioned. Although it’s somewhat small, it is bright enough illuminate whatever you are working on in the dark. It also has a power-saving mode. This light will turn off after 20 seconds.

Accessories

As I’ve said before, it comes as a complete kit that includes an XR charger, two 20V MAX lithium-ion batteries, and a carrying case to store all your tools. Since the tool only uses one battery at a time, you can keep the other one charged and switch it out when you are done with the first one.

Maintenance

It’s a brushed motor and not a brushless one. So, it might heat up if you use it for a long time. While there isn’t any maintenance requirement, it’s better to keep the tool clean and keep it in a safe place after you are done with it.

Pros

  • Powerful and compact
  • Good for household projects
  • Quick charging time
  • Easy to handle
  • Comfortable to use

Cons

  • Lacks a belt clip and a bit holder
  • No rubber bumpers on the side

Final Thoughts

It’s a drill for the masses that don’t want torp tier quality and power but just enough to get through the day. It’s capable and sturdy and is meant to be used primarily for indoor projects.

Hopefully, this DeWalt DCD771C2 review will provide you with all the regarding this tool. Just keep in mind that it’s not for heavy-duty use, and that should be enough. For more review visit Chooser  Guide
